A Safe Place

Beginning the journey of counseling can be one of the most important steps you take toward your overall health and well-being. Research has shown that the simple act of having someone listen well to you creates a sense of safety, peace and belonging. 

Exploration

Once trust is developed in the counseling relationship the real healing begins. It is during this time that difficult and sometimes painful issues can be explored. Issues that may be acting as stumbling blocks to your personal growth and interpersonal relationships.

healing

Once you have been accompanied through the painful areas of your life and come to a place of clarity and acceptance, you can expect to live a more abundant life. This journey can take a short time or a longer time depending on how long it takes to feel safe, explore issues and what types of issues are explored. 

Maintenance

At this point in the process, you are feeling like a more whole person. You have a sense of freedom that you didn't possess before. You feel confident about who you are and have a deeper sense of purpose. Your interpersonal relationships have stabilized (or you have left toxic/unhealthy relationships behind). It would now be appropriate to discontinue sessions and check in when necessary for support.
